Radspod One is back online after a long hiatus

On 24/11/2024 Radspod One went offline. It had been just doing it's job for 8 years non-stop, with the odd break, usually PC/server related. This is the very first counter I got online years back when I only had half a clue. 😂 On the 24th the server eventually died. Capacitors had gone bad on the mainboard and around the time I just couldn't be bothered repairing a machine that should have been recycled a long time ago. So it got left. I eventually got fed up of seeing it blinking away outside and doing nothing more, so it was time to give it a good service and a full bill of health.
It was filthy! 10 years outside and never a clean cloth touched it. I gave it a good clean before doing anything with it.
There is some corrosion on the LED bezel and switch/buttons, but the case was sealed tight and the insides were as the day I sealed the case up - nice! No corrosion or any sign of anything inside. That's what I wanted when I first fitted it, and it worked well.
I ditched the old wireless serial comms thing (it used to send the CPM over wireless serial to the server) and went in favour of a Wemos D1 Mini running ESPGeiger firmware. This has turned out an order of magnitude more reliable than the old setup with the wireless serial comms, but it does mean I can't just get the CPM into Radlog Pro without some kind of interface, so I made a small MQTT receiver using a Wemos D1 Mini and hung it off the back of my main server where Radlog Pro runs. Using ESPGeiger and my MQTT receiver I now push the readings to many services - radmon.org itself, MQTT/Home Assistant, a webhook direct to my server so the readings get pushed to MySQL, and Radlog Pro via the MQTT receiver, and then there is steadramon's new ESPGeiger station map (not so much for radiation monitoring, more for ESPGeiger monitoring) - all the good stuff!
Once working again it got sealed back up and fitted back outside. With a bit of luck this will go on for another few years.
